Berry Whey Smoothie Bowl with Granola and Coconut
Makes 1 serving

INGREDIENTS
200 g Frozen mixed berries
1 medium, about 100 g Banana (Frozen in chunks, which is what makes a smoothie bowl thick enough to hold toppings. Peeled weight. A medium banana is about 100 g without the skin.)
150 g Greek yogurt, 0% fat
1 scoop, about 30 g Whey protein isolate (Values for an unflavoured or lightly flavoured isolate. A concentrate or a blend carries more fat and carbohydrate at the same scoop.)
30 g Granola
5 g Desiccated coconut
10 g Chia seeds

METHOD
1. Blend the yogurt and whey first with a tablespoon of water, then add the frozen fruit and blend in short bursts, scraping the sides down between them. It should be the texture of soft-serve ice cream, not a drink.
2. Spoon it into a wide bowl and smooth the top.
3. Scatter the granola, coconut and chia over in lines or piles, and eat it with a spoon before it melts.

Contains gluten cereals and milk.
Most whey powders contain soya lecithin, which counts as soya. Check the tub.
Most granola contains nuts. This row assumes a plain oat granola; add the nut yourself if the box has them.
Coconut is not a tree nut under UK labelling.

RECIPE NOTES
The toppings are 213 kcal of the total, most of it granola. A smoothie bowl is a smoothie with a small breakfast on top, and the bowl stays over 500 kcal for that reason.
If it comes out thin, more frozen fruit and less liquid. If the blender stalls, a tablespoon of water and patience. Never a splash of milk, which turns it back into a drink.
