Blueberry Porridge with Whey Stirred In
Makes 1 serving

INGREDIENTS
60 g Rolled oats (Dry weight.)
250 ml Semi-skimmed milk
1 scoop, about 30 g Whey protein isolate (Stirred in off the heat. Whey that boils goes grainy. Values for an unflavoured or lightly flavoured isolate. A concentrate or a blend carries more fat and carbohydrate at the same scoop.)
100 g Blueberries
A pinch Salt

METHOD
1. Put the oats, milk and a pinch of salt in a small pan and bring to a simmer over a medium heat, stirring every so often.
2. Cook for four to five minutes until the oats are thick and the spoon leaves a trail across the bottom of the pan.
3. Take the pan off the heat and let it sit for a minute, then stir in the whey until there are no lumps. Add a splash more milk if it tightens.
4. Tip into a bowl and pile the blueberries on top, or stir half of them in so they bleed purple into the oats.

Contains gluten cereals and milk.
Oats count as a gluten cereal under UK labelling and ordinary oats are milled alongside wheat. Certified gluten-free oats are a separate ingredient here.
Most whey powders contain soya lecithin, which counts as soya. Check the tub.

RECIPE NOTES
Whey makes porridge thicker, so it needs more milk than a plain bowl would take. The 250 ml here allows for that.
Unflavoured or vanilla isolate both work. A chocolate one turns the whole bowl brown and it still tastes fine.
