Cherry and Cocoa Protein Shake
Makes 1 serving

INGREDIENTS
1 scoop, about 30 g Whey protein isolate (Values for an unflavoured or lightly flavoured isolate. A concentrate or a blend carries more fat and carbohydrate at the same scoop.)
100 g Cherries (Frozen and pitted. Pitting fresh cherries for a shake is a job nobody wants. Stoned weight.)
2 tsp, about 6 g Cocoa powder
200 ml Skimmed milk
A few cubes Ice

METHOD
1. Pour the milk into the blender, add the cherries, cocoa and whey.
2. Blend for thirty seconds until smooth and dark pink. Add ice and blend again if the cherries were not frozen.
3. Drink straight away.

Contains milk.
Most whey powders contain soya lecithin, which counts as soya. Check the tub.

RECIPE NOTES
Cherries are sweeter than berries and give this a good deal of its carbohydrate. Raspberries in their place make a sharper, lower shake.
Chocolate whey doubles the cocoa and makes it taste like a milkshake. Unflavoured whey with the cocoa listed is the more grown-up version and the one the figures describe.
