Kimchi Oats with a Fried Egg
Makes 1 serving

INGREDIENTS
40 g Rolled oats (Dry weight.)
250 ml Water
60 g, chopped Kimchi
1 tbsp (15 g) Tamari
1 large, about 55 g Egg
1 tsp (4 g) Toasted sesame oil
15 g, sliced Spring onion

METHOD
1. Simmer the oats in the water for four minutes, stirring.
2. Stir in two-thirds of the kimchi and the tamari and cook for one minute more.
3. Fry the egg in the sesame oil over a high heat until the white is crisp at the edges and the yolk still soft, about two minutes.
4. Egg on the oats, the rest of the kimchi and the spring onion over.

Contains gluten cereals, eggs, fish, crustaceans, soya and sesame.
Oats count as a gluten cereal under UK labelling and ordinary oats are milled alongside wheat. Certified gluten-free oats are a separate ingredient here.
Traditional kimchi is made with fish sauce and salted shrimp. Vegan kimchi carries neither.

RECIPE NOTES
Kimchi from a jar usually contains fish sauce or salted shrimp, so this carries fish and crustacean flags. Vegan kimchi drops both.
The egg is fried in the sesame oil rather than the oil going on at the end, so the whole teaspoon ends up in the bowl. That is 36 kcal and most of the flavour.
