Pear, Cheddar and Walnuts
Makes 1 serving

INGREDIENTS
1 medium, about 170 g Pear
25 g Cheddar (Twenty-five grams is a piece the size of a matchbox and 103 kcal. Cut it before you start eating; a wedge cut by eye is nearly always 40 g.)
8 g Walnuts
A grind Black pepper

METHOD
1. Cut the cheddar into thin slices rather than cubes. The same 25 g goes a lot further over a pear that way.
2. Quarter and core the pear and cut each quarter in half.
3. Lay the pear wedges on a plate with the cheese slices between them, break the walnuts over and grind pepper on the cheese.

Contains milk and tree nuts.

RECIPE NOTES
Mature cheddar rather than mild because the whole point of the small amount is that it tastes of a lot. A vintage cheddar at 20 g does more than a mild one at 40.
The reduced-fat cheddar in the table saves 37 kcal at this weight. Whether that is worth it is a matter of taste.
