Tempeh Bites with Tamari and Sesame
Makes 1 serving

INGREDIENTS
80 g Tempeh
2 tsp (10 g) Tamari
1 tsp (7 g) Maple syrup
1 tsp (4 g) Sesame seeds
A pinch Chilli flakes
A splash Rice vinegar
4 sprays Olive oil spray (Counted at a quarter of a gram per spray, which is what the nozzle on most bottles delivers. Four sprays is 9 kcal.)

METHOD
1. Cut the tempeh into fingers about 1 cm thick.
2. Spray a pan and fry them over a medium heat for three minutes a side until browned.
3. Mix the tamari, maple syrup, vinegar and chilli flakes, pour it into the pan and let it bubble for thirty seconds until it coats the tempeh. Scatter the sesame seeds over.

Contains soya and sesame.

RECIPE NOTES
Tempeh is denser than tofu, 19 g of protein per 100 g against 14, and it browns in a pan without any pressing.
The teaspoon of maple syrup is what makes the glaze stick. Without it the tamari just evaporates.
