Ingredients
- Pear1 medium, about 170 g
- Cheddar25 g
Twenty-five grams is a piece the size of a matchbox and 103 kcal. Cut it before you start eating; a wedge cut by eye is nearly always 40 g.
- Walnuts8 g
- Black pepperA grind
Method
Cut the cheddar into thin slices rather than cubes. The same 25 g goes a lot further over a pear that way.
Quarter and core the pear and cut each quarter in half.
Lay the pear wedges on a plate with the cheese slices between them, break the walnuts over and grind pepper on the cheese.
Worth knowing
- Mature cheddar rather than mild because the whole point of the small amount is that it tastes of a lot. A vintage cheddar at 20 g does more than a mild one at 40.
- The reduced-fat cheddar in the table saves 37 kcal at this weight. Whether that is worth it is a matter of taste.
