Allergens

  • Gluten
  • Milk
  • Most whey powders contain soya lecithin, which counts as soya. Check the tub.
  • Most granola contains nuts. This row assumes a plain oat granola; add the nut yourself if the box has them.
  • Coconut is not a tree nut under UK labelling.

Flags follow UK labelling rules and come from the ingredients as listed, not from any particular brand. Check the packet before cooking for somebody with an allergy.

Ingredients

  • Whey protein isolate1 scoop, about 30 g

Cooking this one?

Add it to your shopping list and keep looking. The list adds the quantities up across everything you pick.

Method

  1. Blend the yogurt and whey first with a tablespoon of water, then add the frozen fruit and blend in short bursts, scraping the sides down between them. It should be the texture of soft-serve ice cream, not a drink.

  2. Spoon it into a wide bowl and smooth the top.

  3. Scatter the granola, coconut and chia over in lines or piles, and eat it with a spoon before it melts.

Worth knowing

  • The toppings are 213 kcal of the total, most of it granola. A smoothie bowl is a smoothie with a small breakfast on top, and the bowl stays over 500 kcal for that reason.
  • If it comes out thin, more frozen fruit and less liquid. If the blender stalls, a tablespoon of water and patience. Never a splash of milk, which turns it back into a drink.
