Ingredients
- Wholemeal bread2 slices, about 80 g
- Peanut butter20 g, a heaped teaspoon per slice
Weigh it. A knife-load is nearer 30 g than 20 g. The kind that is peanuts and salt. Sweetened spreads carry more carbohydrate.
- Banana1 medium, about 100 g
Peeled weight. A medium banana is about 100 g without the skin.
- Ground cinnamonA pinch
Method
Toast the bread well.
Spread the peanut butter while the toast is hot, so 20 g goes further than it looks.
Slice the banana over and dust with cinnamon.
Worth knowing
- The peanut butter is roughly a third of the calories and it is the figure that moves when it is spread by eye rather than weighed.
- Protein is 14 g, which is on the low side for a breakfast. A glass of milk alongside or a spoon of yogurt on top closes the gap.
