Allergens
- Gluten
- Milk
- Tree nuts
- Most granola contains nuts. This row assumes a plain oat granola; add the nut yourself if the box has them.
Flags follow UK labelling rules and come from the ingredients as listed, not from any particular brand. Check the packet before cooking for somebody with an allergy.
Ingredients
- Skyr250 g
- Blackberries100 g
- Apple1 medium, about 160 g
Grated coarsely, skin on. Grating is what makes it feel like a crumble rather than a fruit salad.
- Granola45 g
- Pecans15 g
- Ground cinnamonA pinch
Method
Grate the apple coarsely, skin and all, straight into a bowl and toss it with the cinnamon so it does not brown.
Spoon the skyr into a bowl and press a well into the middle with the back of the spoon.
Pile the apple and blackberries into the well and scatter the granola and pecans over the top just before eating, so they stay crisp.
Worth knowing
- Granola is the heaviest thing here at 4.5 kcal a gram. The 45 g in this bowl is a small handful and is worth weighing the first time, because a pour from the bag usually lands nearer 80 g.
- Skyr at 11 g of protein per 100 g is the highest of the strained yogurts and the least sweet. A teaspoon of honey is 22 kcal if it needs it.
